Hi WizKid,
very helpful extension!
I would like to suggest to offer the Quicktext menu bar for template selection above the window of the editor as an option which can be disabled. This is interesting for people who like to have more space for the text editor and who insert their templates by right click or by a button in the symbol bar. It is also interesting for those who like to have the Thunderbird window less overcrowded.

Open the menu item "View" and disable "Quicktext".
