Hi,
is it possible to define templates without any group? This would simplify the path and reduce its length I have to move the mouse in order to chose a template from the Quicktext menu.

Yes and no. You cannot create a template without creating a group in before.
But when your group contains only one template only this template is shown (but not the group of this template), if you do this setting in the tab "General".
